8485212854?profile=originalThe National Scooter Rally is an event for all scooters and this year will be held in Victoria at The Grampians, over three days from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st of March. There will be great rides organized and meet scooterists from around the country. We are expecting a big club turnout.

We have booked club accommodation for 38 at the lovely Grampians View Cottages.   THIS IS NOW FULL, and many more of our members have booked their own accommodation around the town. Try bookings.com or other agencies for excellent deals around the town.

8485212701?profile=originalThe Club will organize a ride up early Friday morning. It will be off-freeway and we'll convoy up by the scenic route to arrive by lunchtime. Details will be announced shortly.

We need to know:

1. If you are coming - RSVP here

2. Whether you will riding up with the club on Friday morning. We'll group ride home too.

The official Rally page is here on Facebook. or Website. The organizer Goetz Neugebauer has also arranged an accommodation deal with the Halls Gap Caravan Park.

Yes Geoff. We have been sent the registration process from the Rally Organizer. it is a 'paper' system, based upon a form return. We will send it out to all members, once we get past working on the accommodation.

Silly question maybe but is there a cost to go to this Rally?

Like, is there a general registration fee or attendance fee for riders and their pillions?

Saturday Ride 2 – Wimmera Plains

As Rally registrations are live, here are the final details of the ride, for those who’ve already ridden the Grampians. It includes a unique visit to the Murtoa ‘Stick Shed’ and more. Everyone is welcome.

    INTO THE WIMMERA

A ride into the Wimmera, the vast wheat growing area of central Victoria. The highlight will be a visit to the wonderful Murtoa ‘Stick Shed’, the largest timber-framed structure in Australia, referred to as the ‘Cathedral of the Wimmera’. https://open.abc.net.au/explore/19943. The local historical society will open it especially for the rally and will allow scooters to be parked inside for photography. Not to be missed. Entry to the facility is $10 p/h, but it will be free for participants, courtesy of the Vespa Club of Melbourne’s support of the National Rally.

We’ll have time to visit one of the famous art silos at Rupanyup, before stopping for lunch where Judy at Boydy’s Café has promised to look after us. It’s an eclectic old-fashioned café with a collection of tea pots on display, and excellent country hospitality.  https://www.facebook.com/boydyscaferupanyup/

We’ll return to Halls Gap via some beautiful old roads and the town of Stawell. If we are ahead of schedule we can take the scenic route to Halls Gap via Lake Lonsdale, but we would hope to have you home at approximately 4 pm.

    Rider Advice

The ride will leave from Dadswell’s Bridge (Giant Koala) after the whole rally morning ride. After an opportunity for a photo and a short briefing, we’ll be leaving almost immediately at 10 am. Don’t gear down or settle into the café there. We’ll ride as a group, with corner marking. It’s an organised and safe ride.

You can view and download the ride route here: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/687863

Speed: All roads are back country sealed roads signed 100kph. We’ll maintain a ride speed of around 80-90kph so that all scooters can participate. You need to have experience of riding country roads.

Fuel: We’ll assume that you leave Halls Gap with a full tank of fuel. The total distance is approximately 185 kms. Ideally your fuel range from Halls Gap is 160 kms to Stawell. Fuel is scarce away from the highway, but for small and thirsty scooters we’ve built in a fuel stop at Murtoa 100 kms from Halls Gap, and another 80 kms to the next fuel at Stawell. The Murtoa station is an unmanned, card pay in advance, single pump 95. To save time we’ll use a single credit card, and you pay cash into a bucket after you fill.  Please bring small change.

Hazards: It isn’t harvest season, so the roads will be fairly quiet. But large grain trucks do use the roads and travel at a fixed 100 kph and will pass you kicking up dust and gravel. If you see one coming it’s best to just pull over, stop, and wave it pass.

Enjoy the ride: There are some beautiful roads to ride. You’ll notice that the towns have all been in steady economic decline over the past few decades and are only just discovering the potential of tourism. Every cent you spend in the towns keeps everything going, and the locals will just love seeing you riding through.
