Join us as we ride to Mt Baw Baw!

Arrive with a full tank. Join us for breakfast at The Gippy Goat at 9am! Departing Gippy Goat at 10am, we will ride via some winding Gippsland roads (by special request!) refuelling at Neerim Junction before heading up the mountain via Icy Creek.

If you’re riding from Melbourne, please meet the group at Neerim Junction General Store at 11am to refuel.

Stephen and Sally Coop are riding to Yarragon on Saturday and staying the night at the Yarragon Motel ($100 a double a night). If anyone from Melbourne would like to join them please book your accommodation directly with the motel (5634 2655). Sally has a table for dinner at The Commercial Hotel next door. If you would like to join The Coops for dinner, please let Sally know (0451 029 500) and she will increase the booking number.

Entry to the National Park is free during green season. The cafe on the mountain may be open, however a picnic lunch is recommended as trading hours are subject to change at short notice.

After enjoying lunch and the magnificent views, we will head home about 2pm via Fumina South, stopping for a “coffee” break at The Duck Inn, Willow Grove. Look out for the view across Blue Rock Lake along the way! Fuel is available at Trafalgar for the trip home if required.

FUEL - fuel availability is limited after Neerim Junction, however following Noel’s test ride on his 300, we can safely say modern Vespas (with a single rider) will make it up and back down the hill with fuel to spare. 95 Octane fuel is available at Neerim Junction and this will be our fuel stop before riding up to Mt Baw Baw. Classic Vespa riders would need a jerry can just in case!

This ride is suitable for experienced riders only. The roads are winding, narrow and steep at times with frequent 4WD traffic, however the general condition of the road is good. Please take a look at the map before deciding to attend.

Hope to see you there! This event will only be cancelled if the weather gods decide to have a tantrum!

Yesterday's ride was a beauty! The weather held, the destination good and the trip there (and back) most enjoyable.

When the organisers state "for experienced riders" heed the warning. Even with 45 years riding experience, I came home with things to attend to. More front brakes and less front end damping are now on my list of further refinements.

Good luck with adjusting your timing Noel.

Thanks to all the organisers, they know how to make a colourful outing. I'll be back in Gippsland for sure.

    Hi Jo et al,

Determination has won out. I'll see you out there this morning.

With consideration, I'm better to met at Yarragon, than Neerim Junction. That way I can load and return to Melbourne easier.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    Hello Jo,

This sounds like "the best ride" possible. I'm from Melbourne, but will try and make it on the day, by coming out Sunday morning with a PX in the trailer to the meet point.

But Christmas pressures may prevent this. In some ways I'm quietly hoping this rain might postpone Sunday to a day when I am guaranteed to be there! Isn't that selfish?

I will monitor things on my side and on your side as it gets closer.

    Mark.
