Get set for a wonderful long weekend exploring South Gippsland! This ride is over four days, basing ourselves in Meeniyan. Spectacular views of Wilson’s Promontory and great company....... what more could we want?

Meeniyan, a Gippsland Tourism award winning town, is approximately 135kms south east of Melbourne. The name Meeniyan translates in the local indigenous language to “moonlight”. Meeniyan has a strong arts community, with fine art and craft shops, antiques and a vibrant live music scene.

This ride is suitable for intermediate to advanced riders, however if you are just starting out now, there’s plenty of time to join in other club rides and get your skills up! There will be no gravel roads on this ride.

SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER

See events page for posted route - departing Mitcham!

Depart Melbourne for Meeniyan, stopping at Garfield for lunch at 11.30 - 12. Try Cannibal Creek Bakehouse or Magpie and Stump Bakery! Here you’ll meet Gippsland riders before heading to Mirboo North, for a comfort stop/ coffee. We should arrive at Meeniyan by 3pm, with time to relax before dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Then it’s on to Bassine Specialty Cheeses for a relaxing lunch on the verandah, followed by our obligatory photo outside the retro garage at Kongwak! Then it’s a leisurely ride back to Meeniyan for a well earned tipple, and dinner.

MONDAY 4TH NOVEMBER

Our second loop ride takes us to the east, via Tarra Bulga National Park, Yarram, Toora Wind Farm, and Agnes Falls. We will grab lunch at Balook, before riding through the pristine rain forest, taking in the waterfalls along the way. Then we’re taking more winding roads via Yarram for a refreshment stop, and back to Toora for a photo shoot outside the old bank building, and back to Meeniyan for R&R.
